ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
*Menimum Educational Qualification :Candidates must possess Matriculation or I.T.I or Passed in 10+2 stage in Higher Secondary in Science or Degree or its equivalent.Sports Qualification: Candidates who are represented the Country in Olympic Games/ World Cup/ World Championships/ Asian Games/ Commonwealth Games/ Asian Championship/ Asia Cup/ South Asian Federation Games/ USIC Championship/ All India Inter State Championships/ All India Inter Zonal Championships or atleast 3rd position in any of the Category B/ Category C Championships/ events.
*Age Limit and Relaxation:Candidate’s age should be in between 18 years to 25 years as on 1-1-2015
EXAMINATION FEE:Candidates need to Pay Rs.100/- in the form of crossed Indian Postal Order drawn in favour of Senior Personal Officer/ RRC, North Eastern Railway, payable at Gorakhpur. No Fee for SC/ ST/ Women/ Muslims/ Christians/ Sikhs/ Buddhists/ Zorastrians (Parsis) & Economically Backward Classes.
MODE OF SELECTION :Candidates will be selected based on performance in trail, assessment of sports achievements and general intelligence/ personality etc.
HOW TO APPLY
Eligible candidates can send their applications in prescribed format along with passport size photograph affixed on application, an additional photograph and attested copies of necessary enclosures, in a cover superscribed with “Application against Sports Quota 2014-15 (Open Advertisement Scheme)”, sent by post or drop in box addressed to Senior Personal Officer/ RRC, North Eastern Railway, CCM Annexe Building Railway Road No 14, Gorakhpur 273012 on or before 08-09-2014 up to 18.00 hrs and 22-09-2014 up to 18.00 hrs for residents of Andaman & Nicobar, Lakshadweep Islands.TENTATIVE DATES:Last Date for Submission of Applications: 08-09-2014 up to 18.00 hrs.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
In 1875, a 45 mile rail line from Dalsingsarai to Darbhanga reached out to famine affected areas and became the cornerstone in the history of the North Eastern Railway.North Eastern Railway came into existence on 14th April 1952, when two complete railway systems viz. Oudh Tirhoot Railway & Assam Railway and Fatehgarh district of Old Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway were merged into one system and was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. It stretched from Achnera near Agra in the West to Ledo near the border of West Bengal in the East.On 15th January 1958, it was divided into two Railways (i) the North East Frontier Railway and (ii) the North Eastern Railway with headquarter at Gorakhpur, comprising of five divisions viz. Izatnagar, Lucknow, Varanasi, Samastipur and Sonepur.On 1st October, 2002, Sonepur and Samastipur divisions of North Eastern Railway were merged with the newly created zone East Central Railway having its headquarter at Hajipur.Presently, North Eastern Railway has three divisions having headquarters at Varanasi, Lucknow and Izatnagar. This Railway, being a passenger oriented system, provides reliable transportation facility to the people of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal and Western Bihar and also gives and impetus to the socio-economic and cultural development of the region.This Railway also caters to the transportation needs of neighbouring country Nepal.
