ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation Ltd(KMRCL) is a special purpose vehicle of Government of WestBengal and Government of India implementing Kolkata East-West corrider of Kolkata Metro Rail project and will connect Howraha Maiden at the east and salt Lake Sector-v at the West.The route will be approximately 5.77 km elevated and 8.9 km underground. There shall be 6 stations in tunnel. the line have interchange with exciting network of Indian Railways at Howrah, Sealdah and Central station s of Indian Railways.The Board of Directors is pleased to present the Company’s 5th Annual report together with the audited Statement of Accounts for the financial year ended 31st March, 2013 and Comments of the Comptroller andAuditor General of India under Section 619(4) of the Companies Act, 1956.The Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation has made significant achievement during the period under report in elevated viaduct construction and underground construction. The unique challenge faced by Kolkata’s soft ground condition and densely populated urban environment are being addressed by choice of Earth Pressure Balancing Tunnel Boring Machines and careful tunneling operations.As per the proposal of Ministry of Railways (MoR), Cabinet Secretariat Case no. 246/27/2012, dated 23rd August, 2012, the East West Metro Corridor Project was transferred to MoR. All the shares of Governmentof West Bengal (GoWB) have been transferred to MoR. Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) has agreedto hold 26% equity in the Project, the remaining 24% of the equity held by them earlier will be transferred to MoR. Thus MoR will hold 74% of the equity.
