ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
* Minimum Educational Qualification :Candidates should possess Matriculation or its equivalent from a recognized board with not less than 50% marks in aggregate for Group ‘C’ Posts SWR, 10th passed or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted bye NCVT for Group ‘D’ Posts of scout and guide quota. A president’s Scout/ Guide/ Rover/ Ranger (or) Himalayan Wood Badge Holder (or) A Pre HWB Trained Scout leader/ Advanced Trained Guide/ Leader/ Captain & Should have been an active member of a Scouts Organization for at least 3 years in 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 & till present* Age Limit and Relaxation:Candidates age limit must be 18 to 30 years for UR , 18 to 33 years for OBC, 18 to 35 years for SC/ ST for Group ‘C’ Posts. 18 to 33 years for UR, 18 to 36 years for OBC, 18 to 38 years for SC/ ST Posts as on 01-01-2014.
EXAMINATION FEE:Candidates should pay Rs.100/- for OBC & UR candidates. The examination fee should be paid in the form of Indian Postal Order from any Post Office draw in favour of
a) Postal applied for Group ‘C’ in respect of SWR Zonal quota: FA & CAO, South Western Railway, Hubli & Payable at Hubli.
b) Posts applied for Erstwhile Group ‘D’ for:
i) Hubli division quota: Sr.DFM, Hubli & payable at Hubli
ii) Banglore division quota: Sr.DFM, Banglore & payable at Banglore.
iii) Mysore division quota: Sr.DFM, Mysore & payable at Mysore.
and fee is exempted to SC/ ST, Ex-Servicemen, Women candidates, Persons with disabilities, Minority candidates & candidates belonging to Economically Backward Classes.
MODE OF SELECTION :Candidates will be selected based on their performance in written test/ interview.
HOW TO APPLY
Eligible candidates may send their applications in the given format should be in Hindi/ English language only and the application should be filled in English/ Hindi language only. The application should be filled in by the candidate in his/ her own handwritten & signed. The candidate has to affix one recent passport size photograph (recently taken) duly attested by a Gazetted Officer on the application form in the space provided. ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
South Western Railway was created by amalgamating the reorganized Hubli division from South Central Railway with Bangalore & Mysore divisions of Southern Railway. This railway has become operational from 1st of April, 2003 with its head quarter at Hubli in the state of Karnataka.The zone encompasses railway routes passing through Karnataka and parts of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa & Maharashtra.South Western Railway is playing a vital role in the development of the region by carrying Iron Ore, Coal and other raw materials for the Industries, in addition to carrying passengers to all parts of the country.South Western Railway has demonstrated remarkable turnaround in its performance in eight years of its existence, both in physical and financial terms. The performance during the nine months of the current financial year has been satisfactory as far as passenger traffic is concerned. The number of passengers carried has gone up from 128.96 millions to 139.43 millions i.e. an increase of 8.12 %. The originating passenger earnings has increased approximately by 7.45 % from Rs. 783.30 Crores to Rs.841.65 Crores.Trend is, however, not so encouraging on freight side. Due to the ban imposed on loading of Iron Ore for export by the Government of Karnataka, SWR could carry only 23.8 MT of freight during the first nine months of this year, against 25.6 MT carried during the previous year. As a result, the originating freight earnings upto December, this year is approximately Rs.1658.82 Cr,which is 21.59 % less than the previous year earnings during the same period.
