ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
*Minimum Educational Qualification :Matriculation(class 10) pass on 10+2 system or its equivalent with ITI approved by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade
*Age Limit and Relaxation:Candidate should have completed 15 years of age and should not to have completed 24 years of age as on 22/02/2013.
MODE OF SELECTION :
a.The selection process will be conducted on Merit basis and will be considering the marks obtained in the Matriculation (10th standard) in a 10+2 system of education
b.There will be no interview
HOW TO APPLY
1.Candidates may also log on to South Western Railway’s website at for downloading Application Form.2.All candidates can submit their applications as per the prescribed format detailing all essential parameters like age, educational qualification etc. and accompanied with attested copies of certificate, two passport-size photographs (duly attested) to the Competent Authority as mentioned below.
3.The application must be printed on a good quality A4 Size paper.
4.Application complete in all respect enclosed with photo copy of documents and attached with photographs should be sent by general post only to the below mentioned address
5.The candidates can also drop their application personally in the Drop Box as provided at the Kanchrapara Workshop
6.The envelope containing the application should be super scribed in block letters as ‘APPLICATION FOR ENGAGEMENT OF ACT APPRENTICE Ex-ITI’

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES
i. The candidates whose SSLC/ITI results are awaited need not apply.ii. The Candidates attending this office for verification will not be given any TA/DA.
iii. No Hostel facility will be provided and the selected candidates should make their own arrangements for stay during their training.
iv. There is no job assurance in Railways to an Apprentice who completes the Apprenticeship successfully.
v. The candidates shall have to execute a contract of Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act 1961 under the prescribed contract format.
vi. The candidates will have to be registered with a local Employment Exchange falling in the state of Karnataka and adjoining districts of States served by the S.W.Railway i.e. Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra and Goa. (with upto date renewal)Otherwise application will be rejected. (Authority;CPO/UBL;Letter no.SWR/P563/Apprentice/vol-6 of 25/09/2012).
vii. For the wards of Railway Employees such Registration however will not be required. But service certificate/Declaration form of the employee should be attached.
Viii No permission will be granted for submission of application after the last date and for verification of documents due to sick and etc. The candidate possessing SCVT + ITI Qualification are required to undergo Apprenticeship training for 02 years (01+01). (Authority;RDH/STAT/POL.MATT/02/2004/770 Of 03/08/2012).
IX. In case the candidate is medically unfitted/temporary observation, they will not be re-directed for medical due to delay in medical examination, since the engagements is only for the purpose of training for a period of one year and not for appointment.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
South Western Railway was created by amalgamating the reorganized Hubli division from South Central Railway with Bangalore & Mysore divisions of Southern Railway. This railway has become operational from 1st of April, 2003 with its head quarter at Hubli in the state of Karnataka.The zone encompasses railway routes passing through Karnataka and parts of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa & Maharashtra.
