ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
* Minimum Educational Qualification :Candidates must be Passed in Matriculation (Class 10) on 10+2 system or its equivalent with I.T.I approved by NCVT/ SCVT in the relevant trade and should be registered with local employment exchange can apply for SWR Apprentices jobs 2014.
*Age Limit and Relaxation:Candidates age should be above 15 years and below 24 years as on 14-07-2014. OC candidates should born between 14-07-1990 and 13-07-1999, SC/ ST candidates should born between 14-07-1985 and 13-07-1999 and OBC candidates should born between 14-07-1987 and 13-07-1999. The upper age relaxation is 05 years for SC/ ST and 03 years for OBC candidates.
EXAMINATION FEE:No application fee
MODE OF SELECTION :Candidates will be selected based on percentage of marks obtained in Metric or 10th standard in 10+2 examination system & Medical Examination.
HOW TO APPLY
Eligible candidates can send their applications in prescribed format along with two photographs affixed one on application & one on call letter, attested copies of all certificates in support of birth, educational/ technical qualification, caste certificate etc and two self addressed covers of size 11? x 5? (SC/ ST and PH candidates are exempted from enclosing self addressed cover), in a cover superscribed with “Application for engagement as Act Apprentices (Ex-ITI)”, by ordinary post or dropped in the box addressed to The Chief Workshop Manager, Central Workshops, South Western Railway, Manandawadi Road, Mysore 570008 on or before 18-08-2014 by 17.00 hrs.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES
i. The candidates whose SSLC/ITI results are awaited need not apply.
ii. The Candidates attending this office for verification will not be given any TA/DA.
iii. No Hostel facility will be provided and the selected candidates should make their own arrangements for stay during their training.
iv. There is no job assurance in Railways to an Apprentice who completes the Apprenticeship successfully.
v. The candidates shall have to execute a contract of Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act 1961 under the prescribed contract format.
vi. The candidates will have to be registered with a local Employment Exchange falling in the state of Karnataka and adjoining districts of States served by the S.W.Railway i.e. Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra and Goa. (with uptodate renewal)Otherwise application will be rejected. (Authority;CPO/UBL;Letter no.SWR/P563/ Apprentice /vol-6 of 25/09/2012).
vii. For the wards of Railway Employees such Registration however will not be required. Butservice certificate/Declaration form of the employee should be attached by the Gazetted Officer of the unit concern Employee is working
Viii No permission will be granted for submission of application after the last date and for verification of documents due to sick and etc.The candidate possessing SCVT + ITI Qualification are required to undergo Apprenticeship training for 02 years (01+01). (Authority;RDH/STAT/POL.MATT/02/2004/770 Of 03/08/2012).
IX. In case the candidate is medically unfitted/temporary observation, they will not be redirected for medical due to delay in medical examination, since the engagements is only for the purpose of training for a period of one year and not for appointment.
ABOUT THE ORGANISATION
This unit at Bangalore was started in 1962 as a part of Southern Railway under the control of Engineer-in-Chief/Construction/Bangalore with headquarters of the Construction Organization at Chennai (Egmore).   This unit was created mainly to look after various works connected with Mysore Division of Southern Railway and later Bangalore Division which was created during 1982.  Subsequently headquarter of the head of the organization (Chief Administrative Officer/Construction (CAO/CN/BNC)) was shifted to Bangalore Cantonment.  This office of CAO/CN/BNC was looking after all the construction works under Southern Railway falling in Southern Karnataka and some parts of Kerala. Due to setting up new zone, South Western Railway with headquarters at Hubli, with effect from 01.04.2003 consisting of three Divisions i.e. Bangalore, Mysore and Hubli Divisions, the new Construction Organization came into existence under the Chief Administrative Officer/Construction with headquarters at Bangalore.South Western Railway was created by amalgamating the reorganized Hubli division from South Central Railway with Bangalore & Mysore divisions of Southern Railway. This railway has become operational from 1st of April, 2003 with its head quarter at Hubli in the state of Karnataka.The zone encompasses railway routes passing through Karnataka and parts of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Goa & Maharashtra.
