ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
*Minimum Educational Qualification :Matriculation or ITI or equivalent*Age Limit and Relaxation:18-25 yrs. ( No relaxation in upper or lower age limit is permissible)
EXAMINATION FEE:i) Processing fee in the form of crossed Indian Postal Order of Rs. 40/- drawn in favour of FA & CAO , E.Rly./Kolkata payable at GPO/Kolkata should be attached by UR & OBC candidate with the application forms. Candidate should mention their name and address on the Indian Postal Order.
ii) Indian Postal Order issued before the date of publication of this notification will not be accepted.
iii) The amount of Indian Postal Order is neither refundable nor transferable nor will be kept reserved for any other purpose. Any type of suit or claim cannot be filed in any court for transfer or refund of the amount of Indian Postal Order.
iv) The candidates belonging to the following communities are exempted from payment of processing fee.
a) Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes
b) Minority Communities - Muslims /Christians / Sikhs / Buddhists , Zoroastrians(Paresis)
c) Economically backward class whose family income is less than Rs. 50,000/- per annum. The economically backward class candidates have to produce income certificate on letter head in prescribed format. ( Annexure – B).
MODE OF SELECTION :1.The selection of candidate will be done by the competent recruitment committee and trial committee through TIRIALS AND INTERVIEW.
2.The candidates declared fit / suitable in TRIALS shall only be considered for the inter-view stage by Recruitment committee.
HOW TO APPLY
a) Application shall be submitted in prescribed format of A4 size quality paper as per Annexure – A. The application should be in English or in Hindi language only and should be filled up clearly and neatly only in English / Hindi language by the candidate himself in INK in his own handwriting and signed in normal signature in English / Hindi.b) Application signed in capital letters will be treated as invalid and rejected.
c) The application submitted in other than English / Hindi language will be rejected summarily.
2. (i) One recent Passport size photograph ( Not earlier than three months from the date of application ) with clear front view of the candidate without Cap/Sunglass/Wigs duly signed by the candidate on the Top of the Photograph should be pasted on the application in the space provided duly attested by the Gazetted Officer.
(ii) Two identical photographs also duly signed by the candidate and attested by a Gazetted Officer on the front side should be attached with the application form containing
name and address of the candidate on the back of photograph.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES
I) The age should be reckoned as on 01.01.2014.II) The decision of the Rly. Administration in all matters relating to eligibility of candidates ,candidature, acceptance or rejection of application, finalisation of panel etc. will be final and no enquiry or correspondence will be entertained on this account. The Rly. Administration do not undertake any responsibility for sending reply to the candidates not
selected or not called for and it will not be challenged in any court.
III) The application is liable to be rejected if any of the compulsory enclosures and Indian postal order are not attached with the application in prescribed proforma or any column left blank. If there is nothing to write against any column it should be filled NIL.
IV) If it is noticed by Railway Administration that the applicant have furnished wrong information/ fake certificates, the Railway Administrations reserves the right to cancel the candidature at any stage of recruitment process and even after the selection / appointment. FIR will be lodged for submitting false and forged certificates.
V) Mere calling for trial / Interview does not confer any right or claim for appointment.Name of successful candidate declared to be so by competent recruitment committee will be notified separately, whose candidature shall be purely provisional till departmental verification of qualification, credentials, PVR etc. as deemed necessary are not completed and found genuine.
VI) Canvassing in any manner will be disqualification of the candidate.
VII) NO TA/DA/Food/Lodging will paid / provided to the candidates.
VIII) Envelope containing the application ( not more than one ) should be super scribed “application for appointment in pb-1, rs. 5200-20200/- , grade pay rs. 1800/- against sports quota 2013-14 open advertisement with employment notice no. & sports discipline”.
IX) The Rly. Administration will not be held responsible for any postal delay and any printing error.
X) Any part or all of the above provision may be modified / changed / abrogated anytime by orders of competent authority.
XI) Selected candidate, who are finally appointed are liable for active service in Territorial Army.
ABOUT ER LILUAH
The case of unfortunate shipwreck bringing EIR,s first loco and mis-despatch of Ship carrying EIR's first coaches for inauguration of First Railroad in Eastern India led the E.I.R. authorities to consider manufacture of Rolling stock in India.Initially EIR had set up in 1853 a Locomotive and Carriage Workshop near the Howrah Station (somewhere near the salt gola) with the idea of maintenance of assets after inauguration in 1854 and was later shifted to its present site in the year 1900 as the site did not meet the requirement in terms of magnitude of work. The Locomotive portion was shifted to a new and much bigger workshop at Jamalpur in 1862 and the Howrah works was upgraded to a Carriage and Wagon Workshop in 1863. As the Howrah location was found unsuitable for further expansion, the facility was finally shifted to its present site. The Liluah Carriage and Wagon Workshop is located in the suburbs of Howrah about 7 Km. from Howrah. It is the largest combined Carriage & Wagon Workshop of Indian Railways.
