ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :
*Minimum Educational Qualification :
For Technician-III : SSC/Matriculation or its equivalent with ITI in relevant Trade.
For other posts : Matriculation or its equivalent with 50% Marks in aggregate. For candidates having higher qualification than 10th class, 50% marks in 10th class is not necessary. Typewriting proficiency of 30 wpm in English or 25 wpm in Hindi is essential for considering to the post of ‘Jr.Clerk-cum-Typist’ based on vacancies.
Scouting qualifications :
a) A President's Scout/Guide/Ranger/Rover or Himalayan Wood Badge Holder or A pre-HWB trained Scout leader/Advanced Trained Guide/Leader/Captain.
b) Should have been an active member of a Scouts Organisation for at least 3 years in the recent past (i.e., 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12) and should continue to be active.
c) Should have attended at least one event at national level and one or two events at state level or should have a good record of participation in Scouts/Guide activities at Unit/district level.
*Age Limit and Relaxation:AGE (As on 01.01.2013) :
Unreserved (UR) candidates : 18-30 years
OBC candidates : 18-33 years
SC/ST candidates : 18-35 years
MODE OF SELECTION :
The candidates, who apply in response to the notification issued and are found eligible for consideration for appointment against Scouts & Guides quota shall be assessed on the following basis:
A) Written test 50 MARKS The written test will consist of 50 objective type questions relating to Scouts and Guides organization and its activities as per syllabus mentioned in the notification.
B) Scouts/Guides qualifications over and above the minimum prescribed as eligibilityCondition35 MARKS
a) Participation in International event one event 5 marks two or more events - 7 marks
b) Participation in National Events/ National Jamboree (No marks for the first event.The same being the minimum eligibility condition First additional event 5 marks,two additional events or beyond - 7 marks) - 7 marks
c) Participation in Jamboree on the Indian Railways (one event 5 marks, two or more events7 marks) - 7 marks
d) Events/Rallies attended at state level (one event 5 marks two or more events 7 marks).- 7 marks
e) Specialised Scout/Guide course Pioneering/ Mapping and standard judging course / vocational craft course (one course 5 marks two or more courses 7 marks).- 7 marks
(C) Personality test/Interview 15 MARKS The final empanelment to the tune of the notified vacancies will be based on the final merit order prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the written test,personality test/interview and the marks assigned to the Scouts/Guides qualifications etc.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES:
i. Merely satisfying the age and educational qualifications itself will not constitute a right to be called for written examination unless the candidate fulfills all other conditions laid down in this employment notification.
ii. Before applying, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills all the eligibility norms.The candidate should possess the requisite qualification for the post applied for at the time of applying itself. Candidate acquiring the qualifications after the date of application shall not be eligible.
iii. Candidates attempting to give false information/suppressing the facts will be disqualified and are liable for debarment and for legal action. Candidates who attempt fraud/impersonation are liable to be debarred for life from appearing in any examination conducted by this Railway.
iv. Candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the prescribed medical examination conducted by the Railway administration before appointment.
v. Mere selection of candidates and recommendation for their appointment shall not confer any prescriptive right on the candidates for their appointment in Railways.
vi. Free sleeper class pass from the nearest Railway station indicated in the application form will be issued to the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities whenever they are called for at any stage of recruitment.
vi. Canvassing in any form shall disqualify the candidate.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
South Central Railway was formed on 02-10-1966 when Hubli and Vijayawada Divisions of Southern Railway and Sholapur and Secunderabad Divisions of Central Railway were carved out and merged into a new Zone. Subsequently, Guntakal Division of Southern Railway was merged with South Central Railway on 02-10-1977 and Sholapur Division was remerged with Central Railway. Secunderabad Division was split into two Divisions viz. Secunderabad and Hyderabadon 17-02-1978. Following reorganisation of zones and Divisions with effect from 01-04-2003, two new Divisions viz.,Gunturand Nanded were operationalised duly transferring Hubli Division to newly formed South Western Railway.Presently S.C. Railway has 6 Divisions, viz, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded.South Central Railway predominantly serves the state of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtraand to a limited extent, portions of Karnataka, Tamilnadu & Madhya Pradesh states.
