ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA : Represented the Country in Commonwealth Championships(Junior/Senior category) or Asian Championships/Asia Cup (Junior/Senior Category) or South Asia Federation (SAF) Games (Senior Category) or USIC (World Railway) Championships(Senior Category) or at least 3rd position in Federation Cup Championships (Senior Category) or Represented State or equivalent unit, except marathon and cross country, in Senior/Youth/Junior National Championships or at least 3rd position in Senior State Championships for All Units and Districts of the State.
*Minimum Educational Qualification :Category (1) - Minimum Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent. Category (2) - Minimum pass in Matriculation or its equivalent.,Minimum 10th pass or ITI or equivalent.
*Age Limit and Relaxation: 18-25 years as on 01/01/2013.
HOW TO APPLY:The application completed in all respect along with the required enclosures, duly attached / tied, should be sent in a cover All the Championships mentioned above as sports norms for recruitment shall be conducted under the aegis of recognized International/National/State Sports Federation and also recognized by the Railway Sports Promotion Board. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CANDIDATES:
(1)Sports persons having sports norms for higher Grade Pay and applied against the vacancies for the lower Grade Pay can be considered for recruitment. In such cases the sportsperson has to give an undertaking that he/she will not claim for higher Grade Pay after joining the railway, on the basis of sports achievement he/she has acquired prior to joining railways.

(3) Eligibility will be considered based on the performance in the championships held on01.04.2010 or afterwards only and sportsperson shall be a currently active player. For this purpose, concluding day of the championships will be taken into account. Performance in earlier championships, i.e. before 01.04.2010 will not be taken into consideration. The selection will be conducted through trial and interview.
4. SC/ST candidates will have to submit a copy of Caste Certificate issued by duly authorized competent Govt. Authority for the purpose.Eastern Railway reserves the right to consider only those candidates who have potential to strengthen Eastern Railway’s existing team on the basis of field trial conducted (ii) For individual events, the performance during the field trial should be at least equivalent or better than the 3rd place (time/distance etc.) of last All India Railway Championships. (7)(i) Postal Order of Rs. 60/- for the post in scale PB-I Rs. 5200-20200 + GP Rs. 2400/2800/- and Postal Order of Rs. 40/- for the post in scale PB-I Rs. 5200-20200 + GP Rs. 1900/2000/- and in PB-IGP Rs. 1800/- should be sent along with the application payable only at GPO/Kolkata.
5. This isnot applicable for SC/ST, Women, Minorities & Economically Backward Class Candidates. (a)Minorities will mean Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains & Zoroastrians (Parsis). (b)Economically backward classes will mean the candidates whose family income is less than Rs.50,000/- per annul (ii) The following authorities are authorized to issue income certificates for the purpose of identifying economically backward classes :- (a) District Magistrate or any other Revenue Officer up to the level of Tehsildar.

(c) BPL card or any other certificate issued by Central Government under a recognized poverty alleviation programme or Izzat MST issued by Railways. (d) Union Minister may also recommend for any person from anywhere in the country.Sitting Member of Parliament of Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which these MPs normally reside. (iii) The income certificate issued by the authorities mentioned in Para-ii above would have to be as per Format-A given below consisting of the following information as mentioned. This would have to be issued on the letter head of the issuing authority.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Eastern Railway was formed on 14th April, 1952 by integration of the East Indian Railway consisting of Sealdah, Howrah, Asansol and Danapur Divisions and the entire Bengal – Nagpur Railway.Later, the portion of BNR stretching from Howrah to Visakhapatnam in the South, Howrah to Nagpur in the Central area and upto Katni in the North Central Region were separated from Eastern Railway and formed as “South Eastern Railway” with effect from 1st August 1955.After redistribution and construction of new lines over a period of time, Eastern Railway as on 30th September 2002, stretched over 4245.61 kilometres.On 01-10-2002, three divisions viz. Dhanbad, Mughalsarai and Danapur were separated from Eastern Railway to create new East Central Railway zone with headquarters at Hajipur.
